Someone Else Loses Print E-mail

Writing CornerSomeone Else Loses                                                     Shannon M.

She takes a sip of the tequila in her hand.

And what happens next, no one can understand.

She stumbles down the stairs and grabs her keys.

Tiptoes to her car, hoping no one will see.

Backs out of the driveway and onto the street.

For some reason she buckles her seat.

Moments later she crashes into a car;

If only she had stayed away from the bar.

The air echoes with the screams of a father.

She has taken away his four year old daughter.

She climbs out of the car with a few bumps and bruises.

She never realizes that when someone drinks, someone else loses.
