If I Was Granted One Wish

Danielle O, 13, HRM

Wishes are funny things. Some people would ask for a date with the hot guy who always sits at the table next to them in the cafeteria, while others wish for cancer to be cured.  My wish is something different, something I don't think anyone but me would wish for. It's a funny wish… literally.

If you wish for a disease to disappear off the face of the Earth, there are still a thousand others that still have people suffering. Even if you wish for ALL diseases to vanish, another will come along in a decade or so. If you wish for a BMW, the only person, really, you help is yourself even if you do look pretty nice riding around on a summer's day.

My wish is that everyone laughs, and laughs hard, for a long time. It doesn't matter if you snort, or cry, or you just sound like you're breathing really hard. Someone else snorts too, you can bet on that.

Now why on Earth would I have people laugh?

Because everyone CAN laugh, but not everyone has the opportunity to and I think everyone should. Also, I've found that I love to make people laugh. I love it. It feels like there's a great balloon of happiness inside of me and I can't stop smiling.

I want everyone to feel purely happy together, no matter what their situation. I want kings to help servants off the floor and prison guards to hand tissues to prisoners to dry their tears of laughter.

This, for me, is the greatest reward of all. When everyone around me smiles and laughs, I myself feel purely happy. Laughter blocks all darkness and lets the light shine through, so…

Never stop hoping,

Never stop dreaming,

NEVER stop laughing.
