My Prom ‘07By Stephanie B, Sackville Prom, it's a day you'll never forget, since it only comes around once in your lifetime. Being a graduate from high school has made me realize a lot of things about myself I never knew before. I've learned that I'm relatively quick tempered, but a nice friend when the time comes. I know how to help others in ways I never knew possible. Prom is one of the most important events of your senior year of high school and it's the one you definitely don't want to miss.
I remember, it was about a month before prom and I started my count-down and although, I didn't know for sure if I wanted to go, I knew I couldn't let the chance pass me by so I decided right there and then that I was going to go. I'd have to say it's the best decision I've made all year, next to studying of course!
It took me about a week to find my dress, and although I bought it second-hand, I couldn't care less. I think it's the most gorgeous dress I've seen in my life. It's not too fancy, but it's not hideous either. It's just the look I was looking for. Now, for my shoes, that's a little different story, it took me a day to find shoes, and although most shoe companies don't cater to people with rather wide feet, I had to buy mine from Wal-Mart, and even though it might not seem like the best place to purchase shoes, you'd be wrong, the shoes were so comfortable I couldn't wait to put them on and dance around all night long.
For my hair and my make-up, my wonderful cousin Melissa did it. She's such a talented artist when it comes to hair and make-up. I received so many compliments at prom about my hair and make-up that I owe it all to her. If it wasn't for Melissa, I would have looked so horrible.
Now, most of the time, when people think of prom they think of the word "date", let's just say, going with a date is a little over-rated, you can have just as much fun going with a group of friends then you can have with a date. I know this for a fact because I went stag (meaning alone). I met up with friends at the hotel and I had a blast. Keeping in mind, the dance was FOUR hours long, I felt like my feet were going to fall off. We also had a hypnotist come in and boy was that hilarious. I couldn't stop laughing. After that was our dessert buffet. Can you say cheesecake? There were about four to five tables filled with sweets and I felt like I was in heaven, mind you, I only had a piece of chocolate cheesecake and this little cup of strawberry fluff which was to die for!
By the time the casino and illusionist came around everyone was super tired. I know I wanted to doze off about five or six times before I went out in the hall with friends and took pictures. Around 6:30 A.M. the next morning, being a Sunday, we all headed into the breakfast hall to eat our breakfast and say our good-byes. It was kind of hard saying good-bye, and although it wasn't our last time to see each other, it sure felt like we were leaving behind so much.
Now, for all those people who are graduating next year, or the years to come, just remember, Prom is going to be one of the best times in your life, don't think of it as another dance, think of it, as a life changing moment. I know it was for me.
