Have you ever felt like there's no one listening to you?
Or feel like you had to do something drastic to get their attention?
Do you sit around being quiet and crying or slitting at night?
This could be a sign of depression...
I feel this way a lot, but I have never picked up the blade and made the cut, but sometimes I try to make myself feel better by speaking up or talking to my cousin Carrie. She helps me with everything and a lot of my guy friends I am able to talk to because, believe it or not, for a girl, a guy can sometimes be the best person to talk to. They listen and, as much as you don't want to believe it, they don't always go spreading rumours. But then again, you have to know who you can and can't talk to.
Sometimes around certain people, I am very quiet because I either like them (guys), or feel threatened by them (girls). It’s hard to feel good about yourself when you don't like anything about yourself. My cousin Carrie is always telling me to find something about myself that I like and it took a long while when I decided I liked my eyes. They are my only good attribute that I can think of but so many people say there is more. I think we all need to stop for a minute and think about one really, really good attribute you like about yourself, like your looks, personality or your life in general. I don't mean go around saying you're prettier than everyone else because it’s just plain rude and people like that don't always end up pretty like you think they would and they're not all pretty on the inside. I also think that we should just compliment others daily, a nice little compliment to someone who doesn't feel good about themselves, whether you like them or not, can really brighten someone’s day. So when you see someone, think of something nice about them and compliment them. You don’t know how much it can help someone. Who knows? Maybe you're saving a life or two. |
