We Are The More Violent Generation Print E-mail

Writing CornerWe Are The More Violent Generation

- Sherri Jade, 14, Nova Scotia

STI’S: Sexual Transmitted Infections are big in our teens these days. A lot of teens like the thought of sex and it is said to be pleasurable among other things.

Some teens even sell their bodies for sex and money by involving themselves in prostitution. Sex and STI’s is not the only thing threatening our teens of today. Drugs, alcohol and even bullying are becoming more and more popular. We are the more violent generation. We teens need to be pushed more. We are not challenged enough physically and academically. We are seen as trouble makers and, yes, a lot of teens are, but there are also a lot of teens who are not.

A lot of the bad trouble some teens get into are usually caused by the influence of drugs or alcohol. Underage drinking and smoking is growing out of control. Police can set laws but most teens don’t get caught and it seems like they can easily out smart the police these days.

My advice: Stop and think before you smoke or drink “What can happen or what is going to happen to you if you do this?"

My solution: I believe you should talk to an adult, friend or someone you can trust who will help you seek help.

Stop taking drugs. You’re just ruining your body and mind. You are beautiful without them.
