Beautiful Contrasts Print E-mail

poetry corner- By Nikki S. 14, HRM

We are all born the same
So I don't understand…who's to blame
For these stupid demands.

Who's to say
he's out of my league
or she's too pretty
for someone like me.

Does it matter who we kiss?
Who we dream about, or who we miss?
Although we are different in many ways

I am the cheerleader
and you act in plays.
What does it matter where I'm from?
My neighborhood don't treat me like scum.

What matters are our feelings for each other.
Let's put aside our differences.
In the end…
It’s not about social status, race, or class.
It's all about emotions and our beautiful contrasts.
