For the team of Teens Now Talk Magazine, it was Tatamagouche!

Hundreds of students filled the North Colchester High School gymnasium to take part in a planned assembly. But no one was sure why the TNT Team was there. When Principal MacLellan took the microphone to announce that a special guest was on hand to deliver some very exciting news, students began speculating.

As Jessica Bowden, Publisher of Teens Now Talk Magazine (TNT), made her way to the stage, one excited teen sitting in front blurted out,

“I wonder if the winner comes from our school?”

Ms. Bowden not only answered the curious teen's question but she inspired and motivated many of the other teens as she talked about the opportunities provided by TNT to have their creative talents published.

"How far would I go to shake the hand of a winner? Tatamagouche… because today I am here, in your school, to let you arrielknow we have a winner."

Cheers erupted from the gymnasium as the most recent winner of the TNT writing contest name was announced.

"And the winner is...13 year old, Arriel Tucker for her piece entitled “If I Was Just A Bird.”  For her winning entry, Arriel's poem was published in TNT and she took home a cash prize of $100.

We spotted Arriel, after accepting her prize, surrounded by reporters and cameras but we managed to ask her a few questions:

How long have you been writing and how did you hear about TNT?

“I been writing since the lower grades in elementary. A course called "Write Here Write Now" introduced Arriel to TNT and inspired her to keep writing.

"I feel that TNT's magazine is needed for today’s teens. Finding out about this magazine really made my day. Now I have somewhere to send my work locally. TNT's magazine will definitely keep me writing."

AT Why do you think that TNT is important?

Arriel explained that, "there are so many teens out there with amazing talent and deserve to be recognized. This is a great opportunity for teens to get their work out there. TNT has something for everyone - music lovers, writers, poets, photographers, and much more!" This is a dream come true! I love to write. Not only did I win a hundred dollars but I am so proud to get this story published in the first issue of the magazine at the age of 13."TNT is proof that teen talent, creativity and a voice can make a positive difference.
