TUESDAY, APRIL 26, 2011 RESOLUTION NO. 775 GOVERNMENT NOTICES OF MOTION, HON. PERCY PARIS: The honourable Minister of African Nova Scotian Affairs, Mr. Speaker, I hereby give notice that on a future day I shall move the adoption of the following resolution: Whereas in 2007 Jessica Bowden of Halifax founded Teens Now Talk, a magazine written and produced by teens, for teens; and Whereas the magazine’s mission is to help youth be seen, be heard, and be the voice of the future by giving countless Nova Scotian youth of all backgrounds an opportunity to share their writing, their photos, and their creativity with their peers; and Whereas Ms. Bowden was recognized for being such a positive and empowering role model when she was honoured on April 2nd with a Haliward, a grassroots award which recognizes Haligonians who make their communities a better place to live; Therefore be it resolved that all members of this House congratulate Jessica Bowden for her inspiring work with Teens Now Talk, and thank her for helping Nova Scotian youth find their voices. Mr. Speaker, I request waiver of notice and passage without debate. MR. SPEAKER: There has been a request for waiver. Is it agreed? It is agreed. THURSDAY, MAY 15, 2008 RESOLUTION NO. 3029MR. LEONARD PREYRA: Mr. Speaker, I hereby give notice that on a future day I shall move the adoption of the following resolution: Whereas youth in Nova Scotia have very few public venues in which to have their voices heard and to discuss issues that are important to their lives; and Whereas the next generation of leaders in Nova Scotia have come together to publish Teens Now Talk, a Halifax-based teen magazine, the first in Atlantic Canada written by teens for teens; and Whereas Teens Now Talk provides a platform for youth aged 13 to 24 to be seen and heard in this innovative, interactive and informative publication capturing the creative talents and knowledge of teens; Therefore be it resolved that members of the House of Assembly congratulate youth throughout Atlantic Canada who contribute to Teens Now Talk and its editor Jessica Bowden, and wish it continued success and a bright future. TUESDAY, MAY 3, 2011: RESOLUTION NO. 1007 MR. LEONARD PREYRA: Mr. Speaker, I hereby give notice that on a future day I shall move the adoption of the following resolution: Whereas the second annual Haliwards were held on April 2, 2011 in Halifax to recognize individuals or groups for their extraordinary contributions to the community; and Whereas five years ago Jessica Bowden founded Teens Now Talk magazine, the only teen publication in the Maritimes written by youth, for youth, which allows teenagers to freely express themselves through poetry, columns, reviews and photos; and Whereas Jessica Bowden was among those honoured at this year‟s Haliwards ceremony; Therefore be it resolved that this House of Assembly congratulate Jessica Bowden on her Haliward and commitment to giving teens a voice in print throughout the Maritimes with Teens Now Talk magazine.
