Nava, The meaning behind the name "Beautiful" in Hebrew
History of the name: Nava -Jewish Nava tells us why you enjoy writting...Well from a early stages of my life I had to deal with literacy and hearing problems. Many seen me as being either lazy or disruptive in school, acting out just for attention…when in fact I just couldn’t hear 100%. I didn't know what was going on...I just knew I didn't want to look or feel stupid to my classmates. Faked it until you make it was my saying…. I would try to read lips or sit in the back of the class...when the time came to take part in class activities I would act up and then be put out...this saved me from feeling embarrassed but it also gave me a tag name...the disruptive child. This suited me just fine as long as I wasn't humiliated or seen to be asked any questions. It was not until I turned 10 and needed a medical before an overseas trip, that my hearing lost was discovered. Now the process of learning how to read and write reveals my sadness, joys and hopes through the new power I found in my pen. Q. Why would you not tell your parents you were having hearing problems in school? A. At first it seemed natural then I realized something was wrong with me and I didn’t want to make them feel bad. We have a big family and I am the oldest, I didn’t want to look weak. Also I seen how mean people can be towards others who have medical problems. Q. How did your parents react? A. They cried, for me and with me. Q. How did you feel once your parents knew? A. Free, no more memorizing things. Q. How is it you are a great writer today? A. I spend a good deal of my childhood watching people’s lips move and most times faster then I could read them…Now I can hear their words and to me it beautiful music to my ear. I travel with each syllable I hear when I put it on paper. Q. Favorite Color A. Purple and Lime green Q. Favorites things A. Dogs, shopping and traveling. Q. Some of your influence. A. My grade 6 English teacher, she always took the time for me to adjust to my hearing aid and she told me everyday I am starting a fashion trend. I think I’m wearing my red hearing aid today…so cool Q. Birth sign A. Leo- the Fire signs… authoritative and affectionate. Q. Favorite sounds? A. Pop, top 40, Rap, spoken word … Q.What advise would you give other teens? A. Alot of my friends even today in high school can not read or write and are truly afraid inside of being found out...I see them acting the same way I did! Some even try to look strong by picking on the weaker one...I want them to know it is ok to go or ask for help for it will not make you look weak...It will only make you stronger. Q. What changes do your friends see in you today? A. I had to struggle in silent for a long while now they can’t shut me up! Hear my beautiful roar!
