Q. Whenever something negative happens to me, why is it that I feel like I am the only one in this world that’s going through it?

A. Dear Why Only Me,
Thousands of teens go through and think the same thing and even at the same time as you and the first reaction is to keep it a secret because you think you’re different or even cursed. You’re never the only one nor are you alone and it is ok to cry and be scared. Now you might choose to act like it’s not bothering you (stuffing your feelings and hiding the real beautiful you) around your peers until you find a safe place or person to simply cry or scream, WHY ME! And in my books, that is OK, because from the tears comes healing and from questions come the answers.
The beautiful thing to remember is that in this big world, you’re the only special one with the unique opportunity to grow from your own experiences, while learning and loving yourself. As you grow you will find yourself being put in a position to face changes in your life which means making choices...Just remember there are good choices and bad choices but the worst choice of all is to not make any choice! So listen to your gut it won't steer you wrong, just be true to yourself and ask yourself these questions…what do I need right now? What do I want right now? The answers are in you, so stay positive and enjoy discovering the beautiful you inside. Just be you! |
